Robert Eugene Sellman, affectionately known as Gene, passed away on February 19, 2025. Born on October 23, 1933, to Delbert C. Rasmussen and Vivian Rasmussen, Gene and his brothers were later adopted by Norman Sellman, whom Vivian married. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Sarah Gosvenor; aunt Delma Steger; and aunt and uncle Howard and Lillian Gosvenor. He is survived by his children: son, Terry Sellman (Karen); daughter, Lorri Huft (Gary); and daughter, Robin Sellman; five grandchildren: Michael, Samantha & Terin Sellman; and Gage and McKade Huft. As well as four great-grandchildren: Griffin & Emerson Sellman; and Koe & Ace Huft; as well as his nieces and nephew.

A proud native of Nampa, Idaho, Gene graduated from Nampa High School on May 15, 1951, and spent a year at the College of Idaho. After working with Union Pacific Railroad for a time, he and his two brothers embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, owning and operating three A&W restaurants in Boise and Nampa for over fifteen years.

On October 5, 1957, Gene married Betty Moser in Bedford, Wyoming, marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership that enriched his life in countless ways. Although they later divorced, they remained friends.

A passionate traveler and devoted Boise State football fan, Gene made it a point to attend nearly every game, often sharing these experiences with his family. His annual spring break trips to the Oregon coast were a cherished tradition. Beyond sports, Gene reveled in the outdoors—his green thumb brought life to almost every garden he tended, and his zest for adventure shone through his diverse interests. In the late 1960s, Gene embraced his adventurous spirit as a pilot, flying a Piper Comanche airplane. He also enjoyed remote-controlled airplanes, snowmobiling, dune buggies on the beach, and boating on the lake.

In his later years, although he became homebound due to the loss of his eyesight, Gene's heart was always lifted by visits from his brothers, Hal and Jerry. Their afternoons spent on the back deck, sharing beers, laughter, and stories, perfectly captured the joy and enduring spirit that Gene so deeply cherished.

The Family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Spring Gardens Assisted Living. They took wonderful care of our father during his last few weeks.

We Entrusted Robert Sellman's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
