Our dear mother, Debra Sue Houts, passed away peacefully on February 20th, 2025, in Springfield, Oregon, while surrounded by family. She was 74 at the time of her passing. Born on December 1st, 1950, to Frank and Ferba Howes, she is survived by an older sister, Bobby Emerson who lives in Wasilla, Alaska, and a younger brother, Terry Howes of Fall Creek, Oregon.Debra was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Houts and they are survived by three daughters, Wendy Lightheart (Keith), Stacey Sprague (Willie), and Jennifer Wilkinson (Mark), all from Springfield, Oregon. As many people can attest to, she was very proud of her daughters and especially loved being a grandmother to her nine grandchildren and a great-grandmother to her seven great-grandchildren (with three more on the way). Her family was everything to her.Debra was known to be a very friendly, loving, and kind person. Over the years, she had stayed in contact with many childhood friends, friends from Lane Community College, where she worked for over 35 years, and friends from the Women of the Moose, where she was a member for almost 50 years. Her service will be held at Lane Memorial Gardens, in Eugene, Oregon, on March 3, 2025, at 1 pm, with interment to follow. Donations may be made in honor of Debra’s memory to Mooseheart.
