Richard Joseph Carter
April 1st, 1963 - February 21st, 2025
Richard Joseph Carter, lovingly known as "Bhudda" to friends and family, passed away on February 21, 2025, in Marysville, CA.
Rick was born on April 1, 1963, in Castro Valley, CA, to Patricia Schmitt and Jerry Carter. In 1973, he moved to the Yuba-Sutter area, where he built a life surrounded by his family.
This included his mother, father, and sister, Judy Roderick, who passed away in 2005. Judy blessed him with two nieces, Bailey and Abbey Roderick.
Rick is survived by his mother, Patricia; father, Jerry; three sons, Joshua, Joseph, and Devin; grandchildren, Emilie-Lynn, Michael, Jaxon, and Jameson; wife, Trisha Carter; stepdaughters, Amber Thornton, and Paige Calkins; and their children, Adrian Zermeno, Alex Zermeno, and Kaydence Thornton.
In 2000, Rick and Trisha embarked on a wonderful journey together, a journey that blossomed into their heartfelt elopement in 2008, bringing their families together in a celebration of love and joy.
Their lives have been enriched by cherished trips and meaningful moments, each one weaving into the tapestry of unforgettable memories they've created together.
Rick had a remarkable ability to touch every life he encountered. It would be hard to find anyone with a negative word to say about him.
He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and friend, celebrated for his unwavering support of the Oakland Raiders.
Rick embraced life with vibrancy, spreading love and respect to everyone around him. He welcomed everyone with a warm smile and heartfelt hugs, living each moment with a playful spirit that brought laughter and joy to all.
In his younger years, Rick excelled in softball, traveling across the country with the Twin Cities Softball Club, leaving a lasting mark as one of the nation's top teams for years.
After retiring from the game he loved, he discovered a passion for golf, spending weekends on the course with friends, always starting their days with breakfast at Duke's Diner. Shout out to the boys.
While Rick's absence will be profoundly felt, his legacy of love and respect will continue to inspire and unite us all, a testament to the incredible man he was.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the world-famous Silver Dollar Saloon at 3:30 PM on March 2nd, 2025. The address is 330 First St, Marysville, CA, 95901, United States.
