It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Matthew Michael Thomas, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and partner, who departed this life on February 26, 2025, in Springfield, Massachusetts surrounded by his loved ones after a brave battle with aggressive stage 4 gastric cancer. Born on November 17, 1984, in Springfield, Matthew lived his entire life in Palmer, MA.

Matthew's life was intertwined with music and adventure from a young age. A graduate of Palmer High School, class of 2003, he later pursued his passion for music production at the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in Phoenix, Arizona. His love for music was evident as he skillfully played the bass guitar, sharing his talent with friends and family.

Professionally, Matthew dedicated himself to serving the Hampden Wilbraham School District for the past three years.

Matthew's adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were reflected in his passion for mountain biking, especially at the White Mountains in New Hampshire and Berkshire East. Fondly known amongst his Thunder Mountain family, he found joy and camaraderie on the trails.

An enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox, Matthew also cherished the game of baseball, which he played during his youth. His weekends were often spent cheering for Evan at his football games, blending his love for sports with family devotion.

He leaves behind his loving parents, Philip and Marilyn (Fitzgerald) Thomas of Palmer; his beloved brother, Ryan Thomas and his wife Amanda of Monson; and his nephew and niece, James and Claira Thomas, also of Monson. Matthew’s loving heart belonged to his partner, Kim Forni and her son Evan of Belchertown, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. His memory will also be treasured by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and an extensive circle of friends.

A visitation to honor Matthew's life will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM, all at Christ Community Church, located at 1255 Federal St., Belchertown, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield or the American Cancer Society.

Matt will forever be remembered for his vibrant energy, his passion for life, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy continue to inspire and uplift those he loved.
