Joan Marilyn Gergora
May 30th, 1934 - February 24th, 2025
Joan Marilyn Gergora, 90, died early Monday morning, February 24, 2025 at home, after a short illness. Marilyn Gergora came to Indialantic in 1978 with her husband George, from Manhasset Hills, Long Island, New York.
Marilyn graduated from SUNY at Albany and attended St. John's University, receiving a Master's degree in History.
She was a high school teacher and taught American History in New Jersey and Great Neck, New York.
Marilyn loved life and her Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially with her beloved husband George. They especially loved Italy. She enjoyed politics and was well-informed about current political events. She had expert knowledge in everything football, particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers. Marilyn cherished her granddaughters Sarah and Samantha.
Marilyn's husband George predeceased her in 2016. They were married for 58 years. She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Claire Spegele, her brother Roger Spegele of Australia, her father-and mother-in-law Thomas and Mary Gergora, and her son-in-law Stuart Jones. She is survived by her daughter Claire Gergora Jenkins
and husband Allen, her son Thomas G. Gergora, her daughter Maureen Gergora Jones, her granddaughters Sarah Jones and Samantha Jones, her cousin Claudia Clarke of Rhode Island, and her sister-in-law Catherine Gergora of Rhode Island.
A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
