Philip Eugene Hayes
February 3rd, 1940 - February 17th, 2025
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”
Philip Eugene Hayes, 85, of Northglenn, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 3, 1940, in Superior, Nebraska, to Phillip and Doris (McClellan) Hayes.
Phil proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1962. After his time in the Navy, he briefly returned to Superior before moving to Lubbock, Texas. In 1969, he made his way to Colorado. In December of that year, Phil met Linda in Tiny Town, and they married in August 1970. Phil worked as a machinist at EDP, where he remained until his retirement.
Phil was a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, known for his warmth, kindness, and the love he freely offered to everyone he encountered. His positive spirit, open heart and sense of humor allowed him to form many meaningful connections over the years.
Together with Linda, Phil was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He enjoyed square dancing and was always ready for a drive, frequently telling the kids they were off to “Jim-Jams.”
Phil is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hayes; his daughter, Lori Hayes of Waco, TX; his sons, Rob (Fran) Hayes of Keenesburg, CO, Craig Hayes, and Jim Hayes of Northglenn, CO; granddaughter Robie Lee (Josh) Mathews of Keenesburg, CO; and great-grandsons Brady Mathews of Keenesburg, CO and Lawson Hayes of Burleson, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Doris Hayes, and his grandson, Dalton Hayes.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 13, 2025, at Mountain Community Church, 1020 West 69th Avenue, Denver, CO 80221. Services officiated by Clyde “Reggie” Burgess. Reception to follow service at the church.
