In a world that sometimes takes itself too seriously, there was Ruthie reminding us to love, laugh and live with unbridled joy. On November 1, 2024, Ruthie traded in her earthly adventures for a set of wings, leaving behind a legacy of family, friends, orneriness and laughter.

Born to Verl and Laura (Lester) Jenkins on September 16, 1939 in Palmer Lake, Colorado,   Ruthie married the love of her life, Miguel Brett on July 5, 1958 who preceded her in death in 1991.

Ruthie took life by storm.  She wasn’t perfect, but she was perfectly herself.  Unique in every way.  She had the gift of gab and knew no strangers.  We often joked that she made friends with everyone wherever she went --- whether they wanted it or not.

Ruthie had a lot of interests and passions to include well-used coffee mugs, card making galore, buckets and buckets of family pictures and memorabilia, dog sitting, Hawaii Hawaii, her 1931 Model A from high school, costumes for every celebration, sand samples from every beach she ever went to, and some of her favorite sports wear from her beloved Denver Broncos and the USC Trojans. All of which will remain legendary.

Most importantly; however, Ruth leaves behind a grateful group of survivors including her son, Stephen Brett, her daughter and son in law, Lisa and Joe Bridenburg, her amazing well-loved grandchildren....Diane (Jon) Cain of Arvada, Andrew (Amy) McDaniel of Brighton, Allie (Christopher) Le Prowse of Arvada, and Connor Bridenburg of Arvada.  In addition, Ruthie (Gigi) had 6 cherished (beyond words) great grandchildren that deserve more than an honorable mention, Braden (16), Caitlyn (14), Harper (12), Charley (7), Peyton (3) and Harley Anne (1).

In Ruthie’s honor we invite you to attend A Celebration of her incredible life on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Arvada Elks Lodge - 5700 Yukon St, Arvada, CO 80002  where stories, laughter and memories will be shared.  Attire for this event is “colorful” like she was.  Bold, bright, beautiful and festive is the Hawaiian way..... her way.  Dessert reception and of course a “toast” to follow.

Rest in Paradise our Ruthie, Mama, Grandma and Gigi.  May your next adventure be as incredible as the one you gave us. We’ll miss you forever and will keep laughing and living in our unique Ruthie way.
