In retirement, Dot was very active. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting, traveling, and taking care of her flowers and plants. One of her favorite activities was her regular Bunco games with her friends.

She was a long-time parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kernersville. There she was a member of the Columbiettes and the Senior Coffee Group. She was also a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Red Hats.
