Peter Kostyk, 93, of Phoenix AZ, passed very peacefully on February 16, 2025 from natural causes.

 

Peter was born June 29, 1931 in Aliquippa, PA to John and Anastasia Kostyk and spent most of his younger life in Fair Oaks, PA.  

 

Peter attended Glenville State Teachers College on a Baseball scholarship where he also played football.  He was quite the athlete and through high school played football, basketball and baseball and was All-Conference all 4 years. Peter was inducted in the Quaker Schools Hall of Fame in 2002.

 

In 1951, he was drafted into the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged in 1954 as SGT with 2 bronze stars. 

 

Peter married Marlene Schwark in 1960 and moved to Tallmadge OH, where they raised their family.  In 1978 he moved his family to Phoenix AZ.

 

Peter was an Insurance Salesman by trade, enjoyed playing golf and watching football.  He never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. He loved the Lord and attended Northwest Community Church. 

 

Peter was predeceased by his parents, 5 siblings, 2 wives Marlene (2002), Doris (2016) and daughter Karyn (2024) and is survived by 2 children, Robert (Sue), Robin (Brad) and survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

 

Services will be held on March 7, 2025 at 10 am, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
