Robert "Bob" Douglas Berg

Robert Douglas Berg, born on September 11, 1944, in Seattle Washington, passed away of natural causes on February 22, 2025, at his home in Edmonds Washington. He was beloved by his friends and family.Bob, as he was affectionately known, was a hardworking, reliable friend to many in the greater Edmonds area. He was the cherished son of Pearl and Egil Berg, and brother to Carole and Beverly. Bob will be missed by his sister, Beverly; nephews Bruce, Bryon, and Russ; and his niece, Amy.He graduated from Edmonds High School in 1962, after which he served in the United States Navy, stationed at Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor. Bob then pursued a career in construction. In 1972 he graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building and Construction. For decades, Bob worked in various positions with the Seattle Building Department. His attention to detail and knowledge of regulations may have annoyed some builders while benefiting the public. He retired as Head of the Building Plan Examination Department. Many projects he worked on helped shape the Seattle skyline.Bob’s love for long rides on his motorcycle reflected his adventurous and free spirit. He traveled extensively and had a curious nature. Those who knew him appreciated his quick wit and insightful perspective.A small graveside service will be held in Edmonds for friends and family on March 28th at Edmonds Memorial Cemetery.
