Cindy Grata

Cindy Elaine Grata, 74 of Stevens Point, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday December 6, 2021, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living Center in Plover. Cindy was born in Chicago, IL on October 9, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy Johnson. When she was a teenager they moved to Stevens Point, where Cindy attended local schools. She married Randal Grata on October 12, 1967 at St Peter's Catholic Church. Her husband Randal died on January 6, 1992. Cindy worked at the Stevens Point Telephone Company as a young woman and then went to work at St. Michael's Hospital as a telephone operator and later, as an admissions assistant, before retiring in 2007. During her retirement, Cindy was a member of the Women of the Moose and enjoyed spending countless hours volunteering for that organization. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, travelling, visiting with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cindy was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls fan. Survivors include her 3 daughters, Jennifer Corder, Barbara Joans, Suzanne Michaels and her son Ronald Grata. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Cindy was preceded in death by 1 grandchild, Lenny Jr. and 1 great-granddaughter, Alexis. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at North Shore and Maple Ridge assisted living centers.
