We were informed today that Trinity AME has a strict capacity limit, and are therefore sad to inform everyone that the church service must be limited to family and close friends. We are also asking that young children stay home if possible. The service will be live streamed from Gayle’s Facebook page www.Facebook.com/Gayle.custard We encourage everyone to celebrate Gayle’s life with us through this virtual option. We ask that you please observe this request in order to avoid putting the family in a position where they must turn away mourners. Please also consider expressing your condolences on Friday at Riley from 3-6pm.Gayle Dorella Custard (Branson) was born at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan on January 17, 1943 and she lived her entire life in Lansing. She went to be with the Lord on the 11th day of February, 2022 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 79 years old.
She was proud 1961 graduate of Sexton H.S. and life time member of Trinity AME Church. She married Lewis Custard on March 13, 1976 and he lovingly devoted himself to her care in their home. Gayle also loved to root for her Spartans, GO GREEN!
Gayle had fond memories of her early work as a dispatcher for the Michigan State Police and she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband Lewis Custard and daughter Elizabeth (Joel) Deyarmond, grandchildren Silvia and Aubrin Deyarmond, brothers Douglas and Kirk Branson, sister Phyllis Palmer, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Xerda Branson, brother Xavier Branson and sister Sheryl Branson.
Public visitation will take place on Friday 2/18 from 3-6 pm at Riley Funeral Home. The Funeral will take place at Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church on Saturday 2/19 at 10:30 am, with family hour at 10 am. Masks required.
Flowers may be sent to Riley. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to Trinity AME http://www.tamec-lansing.org/ .
