Neal Edward Hallifax
April 8th, 1974 - August 21st, 2023
On August 21, 2023, Neal Edward Hallifax, known as "Rooster" to his friends, died in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 49. Neal is survived by his mother Rosaria Gervasi of North Carolina; his fiancé Wendy Springs of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister Cheri Hallifax Turman of North Carolina; nephew Joshua Turman of North Carolina; aunts Patricia Somers and Bonnie Sherbo of Connecticut, as well as numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by beloved grandparents Fred and Myrtle Sherbo of Bridgeport, Connecticut. aunt Joan Kochiss and uncles Fred Sherbo of Pennsylvania and Richard Sherbo of Connecticut. Neal was born on April 8, 1974 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He spent his childhood in the lower Naugatuck Valley, where he rode bikes, fished in rivers and ponds with his family, sledded, built snowmen, and had snowball fights with the neighborhood kids. As a young man, Neal's sense of adventure and desire to find a place that truly felt like home led him to travel to the west, where he resided in Reno, San Francisco, multiple towns in Oregon, before settling in Las Vegas where he met his fiancé Wendy. Although Neal fought many battles throughout his life; illness, disability, and addiction, he maintained his kind, loving heart, and his eternal optimism. It is the memory of these qualities that bring comfort to those who loved him, and the knowledge that he is at peace. No memorial service or funeral is planned. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to a local homeless service organization of your choice.
