Barbara Jo Read passed away February 24, 2025 at home in Ontario, OR, surrounded by her loving family.  She was preceded in death by her parents Rondo andEldred; brother Roger; her twin sister Betty and her sister Sandra.  Barbara is survived by her wife of 44 years Jill Bonney; her children John(Robin)Gruber; Julie(Dan)Williams; Lysa(Jeremy)McCarrell; brother Phil(Cyndie)Osloond and  step-father Joe Osloond.  Her grandchildren Sam(Lindsey) Gruber; Kathryn Gruber; Alec VanBuskirk; Nick VanBuskirk; Camille VanBuskirk; Evan McCarrell and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and close friends.  The avenues of interests that Barbara was passionate about were many.  She earned three college degrees as a single mother, was a social worker assisting battered women, was an ardent supporter of the National Organization for Women, the ERA YES Movement, and continuing education as a tool for understanding throughout her life.  Barbara later served her community as a mental health counselor and retired from Providence Hospital Everett WA as an emergency room social worker.  She was broadminded and open to holistic wellness strategies and tools.  She had an eye for design, she was an accomplished quilter, and a Clothing and Textile Advisors member.  Rocks and geology caught her attention as well.  Her love of reading supported all of what interested her.  She loved and lived for her wife and her family.  Her spirit inspired us all and continues to do so.

Instead of flowers consider a donation to a charity providing social services in your community in her name.

A celebration of life will be held later date.
