Carter-Trent Funeral Homes - Church Hill
Joy Jones
1954 - 2025
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." ~ John 3:16
Joy Jones, age 70 of Church Hill, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Joy was born on November 9, 1954, in Handsonville, VA to Nathaniel and Ethel Harris. On July 1, 1989, Joy married her best friend and love of her life, Ed Jones, and after almost 36 years of a beautiful life together, he survives.
Joy loved being outdoors. From mowing, gardening, and working on the lawn, she found peace being outdoors. She was a devout member of Ridgeview Baptist Church, and she served as a greeter at the church.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents; stepdaughter, Wendy Bailey; and brother, Nathaniel “Bud” Lee Harris Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband, Ed “Mickey” Jones; stepdaughter, Melissa Matlock; grandchildren, Hunter Matlock and wife Sasha, Alex Matlock, Olivia Norris, Jessica Bailey, Grace Bailey, and Ashley Bailey; great-grandchildren, Aria Matlock, Delaney Matlock, and Elania Matlock; two sisters, Rebecca Parris, and Carolyn Payne; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Church Hill. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Jon Rogers. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 am at Holston View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home Church Hill is serving the Jones family.
