Derek Lee Parsons

“Gather round children, I have a story to tell…” Surrounded by family and friends, Derek Lee Parsons, 52, passed away February 20 at Enloe Hospital. A native of Chico, Derek was born at Enloe Hospital. He graduated from Chico Senior High School where he was a track star and received a track scholarship to Chico State. He then went on what he called his “Northern State University Tour” attending Chico, San Francisco, and Sonoma. While in San Francisco, he worked at Noah’s New York Bagels. He never failed to remind us he rubbed shoulders with the “stars.” For example, he served bagels to comedian Robin Williams and housesat for actor Nicolas Cage. He always had a good story. Somehow, Derek turned to giving body piercings which eventually led to his talent for tattooing. He became the owner of Victory Tattoo on Mangrove Ave. Active in his community, he was a member of Chico Elks Lodge 423 and Pug Sunday. Also, he was a charter member of Iron Sharpens Iron Fantasy Football League. He married Cassie Williams, a school teacher in Corning. Apparently, he had given her a tattoo and the rest was history. They were blessed with two daughters, Emilia and Charlotte. He enjoyed taking them camping and sharing stories about Bigfoot. Derek is survived by his wife Cassie Parsons and daughters, Emilia and Charlotte of Corning, mother, Mary Enns of Chico, father, Joel Parsons of Fernley, Nevada, brother, Avery Parsons of Fort Bragg, In-laws, Michael and Roxanne Williams of Corning, Grandparents, Ed and Liz Enns of Chico and Dorothy Parsons of Chico, Aunts, Cathy (Jerry) Noble of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Terry (Mike) MacDevitt of Reno, Nevada, Chris (John) Halligan of Bogart, Georgia, Andrea Miller of Chico, Lucinda Parsons of Chico, Uncles, Don Enns of Chico, Tom Enns of Chico, and cousins Marcy Johnson, Ed Orejel, David Orejel, Brian MacDevitt, Jonathan Halligan, Michael Halligan, Jennifer Funk, Casey Enns, Kendall Smith, Noah Enns, Anne Noble, Kevin Noble, Tristin Noble, Beth Collins, Melinda Enns, Nader Kahlil, Saara Kahlil, Samer Khalil, Chac Kahlil, Ariana Stafford, and C J Miller.
