Frederick M Carey, 81, of Sewell, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025.  

 

Legacy

Frederick Mansfield Carey (Fred) was born on January 5, 1944 in Darby, PA to the late Frederick and Anna Carey. Fred grew up in Yeadon, PA and attended St. Philomena K-8th grade and graduated from Monsignor Bonner Catholic High School in Drexel Hill, PA. Fred was active at the church was an altar boy on Sundays. Fred was drafted in the army in 1966 and later received a rank of Sergeant 1st class upon honorable discharge. Fred graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University and later, an MBA from Philadelphia Textile University.  

 

On May 6, 1967, Fred married Jacqueline Kidd at Saint Philomena in Lansdowne, PA. From this union became his only child, Megan Beaulieu Carey. They have since lived in Sicklerville and Voorhees, NJ. 

 

Fred started his first job at the defunct Metropolitan Hospital as an accountant. In later years, he became Chief Executive Officer at West Jersey Hospital (now Virtua) in Camden, NJ, Henrietta Johnson Hospital in Delaware, Eagleville Hospital in Eagleville, PA and later, Executive Director at Sayre Health Center in Philadelphia, PA. He was an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, car enthusiast and loved the sports teams Eagles, Phillies and Sixers. He also had a passion for collecting trains.

 

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 12 - 2 PM at the McGuinness Funeral Home 573 Egg Harbor Rd., Sewell, NJ 08080. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 2:00 PM.

Military salute and Interment will be April 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery 240 N. Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown, NJ 08094. All are welcome.
