In Loving Memory

With deep appreciation for life filled with love and joy, we celebrate the memory of Virginia C. Fortin, who peacefully passed away and entered the gates of heaven to embrace everlasting life on February 26, 2025, at the age of 84.

Virginia was born in San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines, on October 25, 1940; graduated from Zambales Commercial High School in 1956 and graduated at the Philippines Normal College in 1960, Manila, Philippines. She was a school teacher in the Philippines but moved permanently to Honolulu Hawaii in 1960. There,

she met her long time friend, Virgilio Fortin, a classmate from elementary grade through high school; who was on active duty in the United States Army, stationed in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Virgina married her sweetheart Virgilio D.A. Fortin on June 19, 1965.

Virginia was full of life that put smiles on everyone’s faces. It’s her harmonious laughter that brightens the room wherever Virginia is present.

Virginia’s smile lit up whenever family was near, always making sure they were fed and comfortable. She cared for others quietly, folding laundry unnoticed and sharing her meals without hesitation. Her home was a place of love, filled with laughter, music, and her cherished plants. With a beautifully expressive smile, and a love for capturing memories, she treasured the simplest joys in life.

Virginia is survived by, Husband Virgilio Fortin of 59 years of marriage. Also, Children: Ferdinand C. Fortin, and Germaline C. Fortin. Grandchildren: Jasmine Gandia Fortin, Pryscilla Mann, Ferdinand Fortin Jr, Diamond-Vanessa Fortin, Antonio Fortin, Luke Fortin, Gabriel Fortin, Alicia Baza, and Great Grandchildren: Nova Arnaldo,Logan Mann, Aiden Mann, Hayden Uriarte, Angel Uriarte, and Vianni Uriarte, along with numerous extended family members.

Lastly, Virginia’s legacy of love, generosity, and joy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her warm spirit, unwavering care, and vibrant presence created a sense of home wherever she was. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Her viewing will be Monday, March 10th from 1-8pm with a Funeral Service from 6-7pm at Healey Mortuary Chapel.  Her burial will be Tuesday, March 11th at 11am at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery in Seaside.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
