I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Doris Moore's passing. Doris died peacefully at her home in Meridian, Idaho on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Doris was born on June 17, 1929 to Leslie and Emma Long. She was the ninth of twelve children (4 girls & 8 boys) and grew up on the family farm in Eagle. Doris attended Meridian High School where she met her beloved husband of sixty eight years, Robert "Bob" Moore.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a talented seamstress, creating beautiful clothing for her family, brides and even dolls. She expressed her love through baking and was known for her blue-ribbon pies, orange rolls, cookies and other delectable treats. In the sixties Doris wrote a Homemaking Helps column in the Valley News-Times where she shared recipes, helpful hints and witty remarks. She also had a passion for crafting that included drawing, oil painting, cross-stitching and quilting.

Doris and Bob enjoyed camping with friends, winters in Arizona, taking cruises and RV adventures with the Boise River Eagles chapter of the Good Sams Club. Doris was fiercely independent and continued to live in her home after Bob's passing in 2015. She took great pride in her appearance and was always well-groomed and fashionable. Known to her family as the Energizer Bunny, Doris remained active into her nineties and often quipped that she was lucky to have “no aches or pains”. She was a ravenous audio book reader and had a great sense of humor until the end. Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew her!

Doris is survived by her brother, Sam Long of Roseburg, Oregon; her daughter, Sherry (Don) Woolsey of Boise; her son, Randy (Vicki) Moore of Meridian; her daughter, Terri (Mike) Landa of Boise; her grandchildren, Keely Moore of Meridian, Julie Moore of Port Townsend, Washington, Joe (Allison) Woolsey of Missoula, Montana, John Woolsey of Vancouver, Washington; and her great-granddaughter, Annie Moore of Meridian.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Home Watch and Horizon Hospice for their compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held Saturday, March 8th at Randy & Vicki Moore’s home, 2940 Cobble Way in Meridian, from 1:00 to 4:00pm.

We Entrusted Doris Moore's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
