Jacqueline (Jacquie) Lorraine Petty Stoll
1929 – 2025
On Saturday February 8th, 2025, Jacquie Lorraine Stoll, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 95. Born December 3rd, 1929, to Allan Hastings Petty and Ebby Sophia Petty (Pearson), Jacquie was raised in Seattle, WA with her younger sister Beverly. Jacquie’s grandparents were also instrumental in raising her as they lived very close by.
After graduating from Garfield High School in Seattle, Jacquie went to work for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph, taking the bus daily to downtown Seattle for work.
While attending a Pacific Telephone Company event at Pine Lake near Issaquah WA, she first met her future husband, Walter Stoll. A few weeks later, a second coincidental encounter happened at a dance in Birch Bay, WA and as they say, the rest is history.
Walt and Jacquie married in September of 1950, which lasted over 74 years until her death.
After first being married, Jacquie and Walt lived in student housing together at the University of Washington, Jacquie was still working for the telephone company while Walt finished his degree.
Once Walt graduated in 1952, they moved to Spokane, WA to begin his new career, and to begin their lives together starting a family. Sons Chris and Mark soon arrived just 11 months apart, then Brad a few years later and Lee a while after that, having 4 sons within 10 years.
In 1966, Jacquie and Walt built their home at Liberty Lake, WA to accommodate their growing family of 4 boys. Once most of the boys were grown, a job transfer took Jacquie and Walt to Danville, CA in 1979, then returned to Bothell, WA in 1985 to retire and be closer to family.
Jacquie was a very social person and active in local Welcome Wagon and Newcomers organizations helping other families new to the area, whatever community she lived in. Throughout her life, Jacquie maintained a large network of friends from her high school and confirmation class to distant family relatives in Germany & Sweden, making friends from all walks of life wherever she lived. She was active in the Lutheran Church and enjoyed Bible study and church activities.
Jacquie enjoyed a lifelong passion of art, hobbies and activities, including watercolors, batik, reading, playing cards & dominos, trying new recipes, organizing walking groups around the city, and spending time with family and grandchildren. She and Walt traveled extensively domestically and abroad and enjoyed exploring and learning about people and places through the Elder Hostel Program.
Jacquie liked making and giving unique gifts especially for her grandchildren, such as personalized family Advent calendars filled annually with gifts, hand painted personalized birthday & holiday cards, and even custom tie-dyed shirts. She liked arranging special outings and traditions such as an annual family gathering which is currently going on its 33rd consecutive year.
Jacquie is preceded in death by her sister Beverly West, daughter-in-law Barbara Stoll, and two grandchildren, Shanda Walla and Ryan Johnson. She is survived by her husband Walter Herman Stoll, and sons Chris Stoll, Mark Stoll, Brad Stoll (Sherry), Lee Stoll (Lori Tschetter), and grandchildren Michael Johnson (Rose), Mandy Hays (Joel), Scott Stoll (Shay), Lisa Haffey (Conner), Evan Stoll, Cory Stoll (Hayley), Taylor Jackson (Matthew), Larson Stoll, and great grandchildren Sarah Hays, Katie Hays, Jessica Walla, Jackson Stoll, Bridget Haffey, Patrick Haffey and Michael Haffey.
