Travis Leigh Akers
September 23rd, 1968 - January 28th, 2018
Travis Leigh Akers, 49, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends. Having survived an extremely invasive surgery three years ago, the cancer returned with a vengeance. Travis is survived by his mother and care-giver Roberta C. Akers, preceded in death by his father, Larry D. Akers; sister Erika Coleman, neice Wytney and nephews Joey and Nathan, daughter Khrista Darquiez Akers Kuznicki, grandchildren Drake, Hope and Weston; Aunts, Uncles and Cousins too numerous to list here but who are devastated at his passing. Travis was born September 23, 1968 in Denver CO, graduated from High School in Arvada, CO. Travis was a "good baby, a good boy, a good man, good father and a good son”. A mother’s life is about being a care-giver, no matter their age. I will always love him and miss him. He will always be in my heart. Listening to him and his sister, you could tell Erika and her brother had a special relationship. They could always talk to each other whether it was a simple conversation or a game of name-calling – Go Packers. He was surrounded by his close friends the "Posse” - Jeff Miller, Jeff Keatts, Billy Mora, James Tafoya, Benny Barela and Buddy Gage. If you knew Travis, you knew he loved his music and Karaoke Night at his favorite hangout. If you were really lucky, you got to hear his latest "lame joke”. He loved watching movies, fishing and taking walks around any lake. But his greatest passion was the Denver BRONCOS. He did bleed "Orange and Blue”. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 3456 11th Avenue, Evans CO 80620. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Travis’ life. If you cannot attend, Condolences can be sent to the family at [email protected] . In lieu of flowers, donations to help offset the major medical expenses for equipment rental, supplies and special dietary requirements that enabled him to be cared for at home would be graciously accepted.
