Robert "Bob" William Klossner
January 1st, 1948 - January 14th, 2025
In Loving Memory of Robert "Bob" William Klossner
Robert "Bob" William Klossner, 77, of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Born on New Year’s Day in 1948 to William and Sig Klossner, Robert grew up in St. Paul, where he developed a love for hard work, service, muscle cars, and family—passions that would stay with him throughout his life.
Bob proudly answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A skilled wheeled-vehicle maintenance technician, he demonstrated exceptional dedication and courage in support of military operations. For his exemplary service, he received an Army Commendation Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, a Marksman and Sharpshooter Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Special Forces Medal—awarded to soldiers who engaged in active ground combat. Robert’s service was marked by his steadfast commitment and bravery in the face of adversity, earning him recognition and respect among his fellow soldiers.
Returning home, Bob, like many Vietnam veterans, faced challenges adjusting to civilian life, but he remained devoted to his greatest joy: his family. His sons, Christopher Robert Klossner and William “Billy” Klossner, carried parts of his name, reflecting the pride and love he had for them. His legacy continues through them.
Bob found solace and passion in working on "The GOAT," his beloved '68 Pontiac GTO, a muscle car that turned heads whenever it came down the road. Those who knew him will always remember him as a man with grease under his fingernails, pride in his heart, an unmatched ability to turn wrenches, fix just about anything, tell stories, and share a laugh.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents, William and Sig Klossner, and his brother Dave Klossner. He leaves behind a family who will forever hold him close in their hearts: his sons, Christopher and Billy (Billy's mother, Lucille Staaf, along with her children Theresa, Butch, and Dave); his sister-in-law Sandy (Dave) Klossner and their sons Lonnie, Chad, and Cole; six beloved grandchildren; his sister Linda Hazlett (Wes) and their sons John and Wes; and one beloved grandchild and 2 great grandchildren.
Bob's family hopes his memory will be a reminder of the sacrifices made by Vietnam veterans and the enduring strength of love, even through life’s trials. His devotion to his family and his country will forever inspire those who knew and loved him.
A private military service will be held in the spring to honor Bob's life and his contributions as a soldier, father, brother, and friend. May he rest in peace, reunited with those who went before him, and forever remembered by the many lives he touched.
