Gasper Pacheco
September 8th, 1932 - March 3rd, 2025
Gasper (Gus) Pacheco, 92 of Wheat Ridge, passed away on Monday, March 3rd. Gasper was born on September 8th, 1932, in Walsenburg, Colorado. Gus was one of 14 children and grew up in Southern Colorado. He graduated high school in 1950 from Walsenburg High School and enrolled in the Army in 1951 and served 3 years overseas during the Korean War. In 1955 he moved to California to move with his brother for better employment opportunities with Hughes Aircraft in their administrative offices. In June of 1965 he moved back to Denver and worked with Martin Marietta and the Federal Center. Although, his career path would take him to be a proud postal carrier for the Downtown Denver Washington Street Station, he retired from the post office after serving 27 years of service.
He would meet the love of his life and soulmate, Teresa in 1967; They married June 21st in 1968, and had two sons, Eugene (1969) and Patrick (1974). He was a proud father and always enjoyed getting to see his boys active in school and sports. Gus retired from the post office in 1995, during his retirement he enjoyed golf, traveling, cruises and was often spotted at the Legion, VFW or the Arvada Elks. He loved his veteran community and all of his friends from each club. If you were lucky enough you may have shared an inappropriate joke or two with him over a Bud Light. Gus loved his sports, and he loved his Broncos and always cheered them on wearing his orange and blue and always enjoyed going to the games but it’s arguable that he loved his Bud Light more. Gus was probably considered one of the luckiest men when he went to the “hill” and seem to always come back with a jackpot. He enjoyed playing shuffleboard and was extremely good at it, he would leave you crying with a hanger every time. He loved his family unconditionally; his glowing smile would warm your heart. He cherished his grandchildren, and they cherished him.
Gus is predeceased by his siblings Julian, Nick, Sally, Alfred, Amador, Eddie, Lillian, Bobby, Florida and Mary Pacheco. Also predeceased was his Wife Teresa, and son Eugene (Gene). He is survived by his adopted daughter Belinda, son Patrick and his husband David, and his four grandchildren: Dominic, Cariann, Joseph, Marquz and his partner Taylor, great-grandchild Jonah and brothers Frank, Jerry and Richard.
Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 9th at 2pm at the Arvada Legion and the reception will immediately follow at the same location.
