In Loving Memory

Karen‘s suffering and pain was ended on Sunday, March 2, 2025 as she passed away peacefully in her sleep and was lifted up in Jesus’ loving arms to Heaven.

Karen Yvonne Adams, 63, of West Columbia was born on February 8, 1962 in Columbia, South Carolina to William and Willie Mae (Taylor) Adams.

After graduating high school from Brookland Cayce in 1981 she began working at the Baptist Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. She spent her entire working career at this hospital. She began work as a unit secretary on the Pediatric Floor. She worked on that floor for many years till they disbanded that unit. She then worked on the Mother Baby Nesting Place. In 2016, Karen took additional courses at night so she could become a certified phlebotomist and continued that work in the Outpatient Services Department where she continued until she retired in 2024.

Karen loved her job. She loved her friends, her coworkers and her fur babies, but mostly she loved her family, especially all of her nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews. They were her whole heart.

Karen is survived by her sister of the home, Kathy Adams, West Columbia; brothers, William Michael Adams (Marie), Steve Adams, Richard Adams (Judy) and Jim Adams (Susan); niece, Lisa Adams; nephew, Rich Adams (Holli) and niece, Mandi Harrington (Adam); great nephews, Adam Harrington, Jr., Blake Adams; and great nieces, Cassidy Harrington and Emma Adams.

She was preceded in death by father, William Belton Adams; mother, Willie Mae Adams; and niece, Jennifer Dress.

The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11 AM-12 PM. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM with Pastor David Spires officiating. Interment will be at Celestial Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the National Cancer Foundation, as Karen was an eight year breast cancer survivor.
