Mementos

After enjoying over 100 years, Martha Johnson passed away on March 3, 2025.  She was born in the Halmstad area of Sweden to Carl and Anna Carlson.  At one year, the family moved back to Colorado to farm in the Farmers Spur Area. Martha graduated from Greeley High School in 1942 and attended CSCE (now UNC) with a degree in elementary education. She taught 2nd and 3rd grades at La Grange, Estes Park, Tieton, Washington, and Greeley schools. Her greatest joy was teaching children to read.  Martha married Marvin Johnson in Greeley, CO on October 11, 1958.  She retired from teaching to be a farm wife and all that entails.  Marvin and Martha farmed east of Loveland and south of Windsor until 1994.  They retired to Loveland.  Martha’s final years were spent at North Shore Health and Rehab.  The family would like to thank everyone at the facility for their wonderful care and kindness. Martha loved the mountains, the cabin in Glen Haven, family picnics, and animals.  She also loved people and treated them as fellow children of God.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, a brother (Lennart Carlson) and sister (Margaret Magnuson) and her husband, Marvin. She is survived by her daughter Linda and son-in-law Jim Broomfield of Glen Haven.

Martha’s funeral is Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loveland. There will be a luncheon to follow. Donations in her memory can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Pathways Hospice.
