So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing.

Jonathan Yi Wang passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, at the age of 34, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Jon was born on October 7, 1988, in Chicago, IL, and raised with love and care by his devoted parents (Jing-yuan and Yi-yi). Jon's life was marked by quiet strength, gentle kindness, and a love of following Jesus Christ.

A graduate of Cherry Creek High School and the University of Colorado at Boulder, Jon earned his degree in management and built a career in supply chain management within the aerospace industry. Known for his diligence and integrity, Jon significantly improved numerous projects and programs throughout his professional journey.

Jon's calm, stoic presence and dry humor brought stability and comfort to those around him. Although never one to seek the spotlight, he cherished being surrounded by friends and family. Young children naturally gravitated toward him, finding warmth, security, and gentleness in his presence.

At the heart of Jon’s life was his love for Jesus. He was more concerned about obeying and following Jesus than what He could do for him. Jon was always willing to share what the Lord was doing in his life. His witness influenced and encouraged many around him to commit to following Jesus.

Jon's interests brought joy and togetherness to his loved ones. Whether playing basketball, engaging in strength training and calisthenics, cooking specialty chicken wings and hotpot for friends, serving in his church, or enjoying kung fu movies, Jon delighted in these moments of connection and fellowship.

Throughout his battle with cancer, Jon faced more than 40 chemotherapy treatments with remarkable courage and strength. Despite immense suffering, he never complained, choosing instead to trust in God's unwavering faithfulness and promises. Even in his final days, Jon demonstrated faith and determination, epitomized in his final spoken wish to "recover," reflecting commitment to the Lord’s care and plans for him.

Jon is survived by his loving parents, as well as his brother, sister-in-law, and nephews.  While greatly missed, Jon’s memory and spirit remain a lasting testament of the goodness of God in his life and the lives of those he touched.
