Ronald Lewis Saur, 85, Jefferson passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 .
Ron was born on December 19, 1939 in Fort Atkinson, WI to Lewis and Viola (Wolfram) Saur. Growing up, he attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Fort Atkinson and one year at Northwestern Prep in Watertown in 1954 before graduating from Fort Atkinson High School in 1957. Ron served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1965. He was employed with Jones Dairy Farm for 35 years before retiring in 2002.
Ron married Joan Engelke on July 15,1967 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson, WI. He was a great dad to two step-children, Mark and Tammy Engelke. He and Joan had one son, Michael Saur. Ron was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Jefferson. He served as treasurer for the Boy Pioneers for several years. Ron enjoyed camping, traveling and woodworking for which he made many gifts for family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Rachel) Engelke, Tammy Schillinger, and Michael (Elise) Saur; grandchildren Allyn (Ann) Schillinger, Rebecca (Dan) McGonagil, Christopher Engelke, Naomi (Sam) Brumm, Jamie Engelke, Wyatt Saur, Charlie Saur, Jaxson Saur; great-grandchildren Raegan, Isaac McGonagil, Bennett, Riley and Jordan Schillinger; brother Richard (Marge) Saur. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, sister Lois Jaeckel; brother-in-law Lance Messmer, and son-in-law Dave Schillinger.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:30am at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church 232 E. Church St. Jefferson, WI with Rev. Joshua Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Atkinson, WI with military honors. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00am until the time of the service. As an expression of sympathy you may wish to consider memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church or to Lakeside Lutheran High School.
