David William Luer

David W. Luer, 55, passed away peacefully at his home in Jasper County, South Carolina, on February 21, 2025. He was born on January 31, 1970, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Patricia (Kluck) and William Luer. 

A highly skilled carpenter, David dedicated much of his early adult life to the construction industry, even founding his own company, Two Men & a Ladder, in his early twenties. In 2014, David moved to the East Coast to pursue a career in the engineering field. He worked for several Hilton properties, starting as a technician and later ending his career as an assistant chief engineer. 

Beyond his professional life, David found joy in the outdoors. Whether pitching a tent, hunting, fishing, or spending time on the golf course, he embraced nature with enthusiasm. He also appreciated life’s simple pleasures—sharing a Sam’s Special Pizza and a cold Budweiser. His dedication to his work, love for adventure, and appreciation for the small joys in life made him truly unforgettable. 

David is survived by his parents, William Luer of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; Patricia Luer (David Landskron) of Winter Haven, Florida; his sister Nicole Luer (Tyler Vannetta) of Tampa, Florida; his children Jesse Luer of Wausau, Wisconsin, and Erika Writz (Steven) of Wausau, Wisconsin; and four grandchildren: Owyn Luer, Moleigh Writz, Sloan Writz, and Sawyer Writz. He also leaves behind his beloved partner and love of his life, Donna Santella of South Carolina.
