Melba Jean Kester December 14, 1936 – March 2, 2025 Age 88

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Melba Jean Kester, who was called home to the Lord on March 2, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born in a small village in upstate New York on December 14, 1936, Melba grew up in a large, close-knit family that laid the foundation for her lifelong warmth, generosity, and devotion to those she loved. It was in this same village that she met Clarence, the love of her life. Together, they spent over 47 years building a life full of joy, adventure, and devotion to one another. Their journey took them through New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and ultimately to Colorado, where they spent many years. Clarence’s passing in 2002 left a void in Melba’s heart that she carried with grace.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband and her dear brothers and sisters, Melba’s legacy lives on in her four amazing children and their families. She was affectionately known as Grammy by her many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Melba also leaves behind her sister, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Throughout her life, Melba made an indelible impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be cherished, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate Melba’s life will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A gathering will follow the service to honor her memory and the love she shared with us all.
