With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Russell Vittetoe, who left this world on March 4, 2025. Born on January 10, 1950, in Denver, Colorado, to Russell and Laura Vittetoe, John lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and friends.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Vernie; his children, Dana, Lisa (Cole), Kristen, Chad, Jesse (Victoria), and Aaron (Tiffinnie); his cherished grandchildren, Jace, Payton, Vinny, Kyla, Jenner, Austin, Caleb, and Jacob; and his great-grandchildren, Ollie and June. He also leaves behind his dear siblings, Carol, Nancy (Michael), and Kathy (Bill), as well as his extended family of in-laws (siblings), Peggy, Barbara, Mary, Becky, Jimmy, Pete, Judy, and Tommy.
His presence will be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
At just 19 years old, John became the youngest journeyman plumber in Colorado. By 20, he founded Vittetoe Plumbing, a company he successfully ran for 50 years.
Beyond his work, John had a passion for adventure—whether scuba diving beneath the waves or hunting elk in the mountains. But above all, John had a gift for connection. He never met a stranger, only future friends. His love language was laughter—if you were in his presence, you were bound to laugh until you cried.
We will forever cherish the memories of joy, friendship, and the warmth of his hugs. His spirit will live on in our hearts, and though we will miss him deeply, we find comfort in knowing his love surrounds us always.
Memorial services will be held on March 13th at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 109 3rd Street, Mead, Colorado 80542. The Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall.
