Frank Newman, 85, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025. Born in Oak Park, IL, on July 27, 1939, Frank led a life full of dedication, service, and love for his family and community.

He pursued his education at the University of Notre Dame and Roosevelt University, earning a Bachelor’s degree. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard before embarking on a career in banking, where he made lasting contributions.

Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Glenview, IL. After relocating to Punta Gorda 24 years ago, he became an active member of the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge and the Port Charlotte Moose Lodge, forming cherished friendships along the way.

Frank was an avid boater who found joy on the water and was a passionate reader who never stopped learning. He was a devoted husband to Mary Kay Newman (née Kelly), a loving father to his son John of Punta Gorda and his daughter Kelly Van Hyfte (Rob Van Hyfte), and a proud grandfather to his beloved Ella. He was also a cherished uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Frank will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service may be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Frank’s memory.
