Nathan "Cody" Brill
March 10th, 2000 - March 2nd, 2025
N. Cody Brill Nathan “Cody” Brill tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025, one week shy of his 25th birthday.
The beloved son of Nicole Hill Bringolf and Timothy J. Brill was born in Fairbanks, Alaska March 10th, 2000. The family moved to Reno, Nevada where both parents founded Aerobatic Company and Flight School at Stead Airport. Cody grew up around adventurous parents; his father solo-sails boats around the world and teaches aerobatic maneuver training, and his mother who has set a few records of her own, runs up the mountains, and works as a hydrologist for the Forest Service.
Cody attended Caughlin Ranch Elementary, Pine Middle, and the Honors of Academy of Literature schools in Reno. He did not formerly attend high school and yet scored above average on his SAT scores. After Pine Middle School, the Davidson Academy was on the table and he was twice accepted to Texas Maritime Academy in Galveston, Texas, but chose a life he felt better for him. He loved working as a chef at Chart House in Tahoe and the Bistro Napa at the Atlantis Casino Resort. He made over 10 amazing pizzas in a small kitchen for his mother’s wedding dinner. He never ceased to amaze everyone from skiing, teaching, racing, technology, mechanics, sailing, flying, and coding.
He is quite fond of working on and upgrading cars; upon receiving his first car from his older brother, he immediately swapped out the entire slow drivetrain with an import WRX engine from Japan and proceeded to drive it around the country for fun. He worked at Lithia Reno Subaru and Corwin Ford Reno as a mechanic repairing cars and earned many professional certifications. He moved to Colorado and worked with Snow Capped Cider in Delta County, where he developed a passion for making mead at home. He spent his extra time building cars and trucks with his brother, Alex, who lives in Delta County near their grandfather, George Smith.
Having grown up with adventurous parents, Cody is known to be more spontaneous and adventurous than the average kid growing up. Beside flying planes with his parents, he scuba-dived, skied, surfed, and had many sailing credentials. One time with his friends, they took a quick drive around town and that trip evolved into a road trip to San Francisco then Six Flags. At 14 years old, Cody took his mother, Nicole, and friends, sailing confidently as the Captain of ‘Intrepid’ from Benicia to Monterey Bay where the boat engine broke down getting into the marina. After it was repaired, he sailed the boat without adult supervision from Monterey Bay back to Benicia, California. He also sailed twice to Baja HaHa, San Diego to Cabo, and Mazatlan. He traveled the world with his family, to 13 countries in five continents.
In addition to his adventures and anything mechanical, Cody is very passionate in learning to play music, mainly on his piano. Some of the songs he learned were Yiruma - River Flows in You, C418 - Sweden, and the Skyrim theme song. Together, he and his friends also learned to play Linkin Park - What I’ve Done and Twenty One Pilots - The Pantaloon with aspirations of starting a band. Before he was old enough to learn how to use computers, he and his brother, Alex, complied and ran Minecraft servers on their grandparent’s antique business computers, as well as continually ran a few game servers with friends over the years. He was also making a few games and the latest was a 2D crafting-adventure game.
Cody was truly a kind-hearted, intelligent soul, who cared deeply for others and would always go the extra mile as a friend. The world would be a much better place if everyone was like Cody who was concerned about safety in riding motorcycle. He has been a brother to many circles of friends in the tech & mechanically savvy communities. He is survived by his parents, Nicole Hill Bringolf and her husband, Christopher A. LaPierre, his father, Timothy J. Brill; grandfather, George Smith and his partner Marta Collazo; brothers, Alexander W. Brill and Matthew J. Brill; Aunt Audrey SchallibaumKuhn and Uncle James Kuhn; Cousin, Kalista Kuhn; Aunt Cris Knox; Cousin Zak Knox; and many more loving brother and sister friends whose hearts he will live forever.
A funeral viewing service will be held at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home in Longmont, Colorado on Wednesday, March 12th at 1 pm for an hour and a small Celebration of Life will follow.
Another Celebration of Life and a group ride will be held in Reno, Nevada TBA.
