Gary Denton Adams, 83, Kuna, Idaho, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, with his beloved wife, Mary by his side.

His passing followed complications from a stroke in October 2024.

Gary was born August 17, 1941, to Denton and Esther (Peterson) Adams in Gooding, Idaho. He attended schools in Tuttle, Gooding and Wendell graduating from Wendell High School in 1959.

Gary attended Boise Junior College graduating in 1962 and began working in Seattle, Washington at Boeing Aircraft. A year later he moved to San Jose, California to work as an illustrator in Lockheed’s Missile and Space program.

Gary returned to Idaho in 1967 to join his father in Adams Conoco Distributing delivering fuel to wholesale and farm accounts.

He also had additional endeavors such as Adams Photo, L & A Insulation Cerami-Kote Roofing and Adams Motorcycle Repair.

Gary always had a passion for adventure and competition. He was a member of the Soldier Mountain and Bogus Basin ski patrol. He raced motorcycles cross country in the Magic Valley area.

He bowled for many years in leagues in Gooding and later in Meridian. He was a longtime volunteer with a Gooding Fire Department.

In 1969, he married Mary Moore, Twin Falls, Idaho in Elko, Nevada in 1987 he began working for the State of Idaho Transportation Department in Shoshone, Idaho as a technical illustrator.

Gary served his country honorably in the California and Idaho Army National Guard until his discharge in 1967. He joined the Idaho Air National Guard in 1984 as a photo processor (PPIF), retiring in 2001.

In 1994, Gary joined his son-in-law, Brian Callahan in cofounding C & A Paving in Boise. He was active in the business until his retirement in 2001.

After retiring, Gary took up skiing again, golfing, pickleball, pool and with Mary, enjoyed RV camping, fishing and spending winters in Yuma, Arizona.

An important part of Gary’s life was his faith in Jesus Christ. He was a devoted member of the Ten Mile Christian Church in Meridian serving communion for many years and was part of home bible study groups.

Gary survived by his wife Mary at 55 years; son, Charles Patrick (Pam) Adams, Gooding: daughter, Heather (Brian) Callahan, Kuna.

Grandchildren, Taylor (Dillon) Oneida, Kuna; Mckenzie (Billy) Prindle, Meridian; Tyler, Bryan, and Nycholas Adams, Boise.

Great grandchildren, Koston, Logan, Brixon, Koen, Blayre and many nephews and nieces.

He is also survived by his sister, Donita (Ron) Lancaster, Jerome and his brother, Ron (Paula) Adams, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Also survived by his in-laws: Leslie and Jim Pass, Boise; Robert and Barbara Moore, Las Vegas; and Kelly and Chris Sullivan, Rupert.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary was a kind, caring and gentle person who was always there for family and friends.

A committal ceremony will be held April 11, 2025 at 11 AM at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise, Idaho A celebration of life will follow from 12 to 4 PM with luncheon at the River Club, 6515 W State St., Garden City, Idaho
