It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Louella (Lou) Faye Noonan, who passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at the age of 99. Born in Gray County, Texas on August 21, 1925, Lou grew up on a farm in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl, a time that undoubtedly shaped her into the woman she became. During World War II, she worked in a factory, contributing to the war effort, and in 1950, she married Lt. Col. Anthony Raymond Noonan, a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. They dearly loved each other, and the marriage lasted for 41 years until his death in 1991. As a career military wife, Lou traveled across the United States with her husband, two daughters, Bennie Ross and Tonya Noonan Herring and son, Anthony Shawn Noonan. She established homes in California, Virginia, and Texas before settling long term in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1969. Known for her striking red hair, Lou was always impeccably put together, and she had a keen sense for style.

She took great pride in her appearance both with her carefully curated outfits and meticulously decorated homes. Alongside her husband, she helped with numerous real estate ventures, and after his passing in 1991, she took on the responsibility herself, continuing the work they had started together. Lou and Tony were lifelong Christians and leaders for many years in their Four Square church in Northwest Albuquerque. Later in life, Lou regularly attended Hoffmantown Baptist church where she had many friends. One of her favorite pastimes was combing the mall and scouting out deals on the perfect blouse or pair of shoes. Like a lioness on the prowl she would patiently watch and wait for her favorite item to go on sale. She loved her coffee, but nothing gave her as much joy as a black cup of coffee from Wendy’s on the senior discount. Lou is leaving behind an amazing legacy. She is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony Noonan, and many other loved ones. Lou will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and beyond.

A private family service will be held to honor Lou’s life. She will be laid to rest permanently next to her husband in Santa Fe National Cemetery
