Memorial

Marvin George Jaeger, a kind-hearted, hard-working, and unassuming man who quietly made a lasting impact on all who knew him, passed away on March 2, 2025, at the age of 81 from cancer. Marvin’s life was a testament to humility and dedication, and his memory will be cherished by his family and friends.

Marvin was born on July 19th, 1943, in Olympia, Washington to Hulda (Schwagler) and George Jaeger. He grew up in the Gull Harbor area of Olympia and graduated from Olympia High School in 1961. Marvin loved spending his summers swimming, boating and waterskiing in the bay and exploring the pristine woods and fields around the harbor with his brother and cousins. He learned about mechanics and construction from his stepfather, Ted Haisch, and developed a love for tools and collecting favorite found treasures. Marv was one of the first Junior Firemen with North Olympia Fire District 7 in the early 1960’s and had many fond memories of his time there.

Marvin's unwavering love for his wife was the cornerstone of their almost 60 years of marriage. Marvin met Jennifer McGee in high school. They were married on June 5th, 1965 in Olympia, where they raised their family. For the last 30 years, they presided in the home Marvin grew up in that was built by his stepdad. They took great pride in their yard and spent countless hours mowing, weeding, gardening and enjoying the fruits of their labor while relaxing on their patio.

Marvin is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Jennifer Jaeger, their son Tom (Courtney) Jaeger of Graham, daughter Julee (Erik) Jensen of Bothell, grandchildren Maddie, Emily, Wyatt and Avery, sister LaVerne (Mark) Atkinson of Stillwater, OK and brother Jack (Rita) Haisch of Olympia. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Marvin was a career truck driver for Garrett Freightlines and Oak Harbor Freightlines in Olympia and Shelton. He was one of the first coaches for the Chinqually Booters Soccer Club. He coached his son Tom’s soccer team, the Tanglewilde Foodtown J-Hawks for 11 years. He also was an assistant coach for his son’s baseball team for many seasons. Marv’s dedication to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He cheered and supported his children’s activities and continued this tradition with his grandchildren. He loved being a grandpa and he took great pride in their accomplishments. Marv loved all Seattle sports teams, especially Husky Football where he was a season ticket holder for decades. He was an avid reader who always had a book by James Patterson or C.J. Box on reserve at the library or on his nightstand. Classic country music was always playing in his pickup truck.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Providence St. Peter Hospital and to the South Bay Fire Department EMTs for their care and compassion. A special thank you to our friends and family who continue to support us with love. A family gathering will be planned for a later date.
