Elsie was born in Bayard, NE to Eva Elizabeth & Jacob B. Ruff. She was the youngest of 9. Her parents moved shortly after she was born to Colorado. She attended Commerce City High School and then Lakewood High School where she graduated. She was always raised on a farm. After graduation she worked for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator. She met the love of her life Robert “Bob” Simpson on a blind date. They started their family with the birth of their first son, Richard Jerry, then Jeffery Jake and then their daughter Jennifer Lyn. She was a stay-at-home mom who volunteered and helped care for her aging parents. She later worked at Denver General Hospital. After retiring from there, she helped Bob w/the family business, Toolco. She was a widow for just over 27 years. She was a founding member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church when she was 16. She was also a member of Peace with Christ Lutheran in Aurora and Joy Lutheran in Parker. At the time of her passing she was attending Journey Church in Castle Pines. She loved her family, her kids and grandkids and especially her great grandchildren.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Eva & Jacob, all 8 of her siblings, Henry (Lydia), Esther (Henry), Reynold (Odelia), Ruben (Alice), Helen (Roxie), Irene (Milton), Raymond (June) and Albert and her granddaughter in-law Liz Simpson.

 

She is survived by her children: Jerry & Kathy Simpson, Jeff & Ruth Simpson and Jennifer & John Pettinger; her grandchildren: Joshua Simpson, Rebecca & Brandon Burns, Christopher & Heidi Simpson, Justin Pettinger, Alicia & Ricky Romero, Elizabeth Simpson & Justin Sterett and Matthew & Amy Simpson; her great grandchildren: Daniel Lyons, Matthew Simpson, Noah Hansen, Leah Simpson, Sophie Simpson, Lucas Romero, Taliesin Pettinger, Lillian Simpson, Reign Pettinger, Matthew Romero, Ivy Simpson, Lyla Simpson, Lyonesse Pettinger, Addison Burns, Duncan Simpson, Lorelei Simpson, Macy Simpson and Charlotte Burns, and her sister-in-law Wanda Ruff and many nieces and nephews.

 

A Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 10:00am at Journey Church, 9009 Clydesdale Road, Castle Pines, CO 80108. A reception will follow at Hickory House, 10335 S. Parker Road, Parker, CO 80134.
