Pearl Johnson
February 8th, 1926 - February 14th, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pearl Johnson, a cherished matriarch, devoted friend, and vibrant soul, who departed from this world on February 14, 2025, in Tumwater, Washington. Born on February 8, 1926, in Independence, Missouri, Pearl's life was a testament to resilience, generosity, and a boundless spirit.
Pearl began her journey at William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri. She was dedicated and generous with her family and friends an involved member of the Eagles.
In 1951, Pearl joyfully married Herchel Johnson in Chehalis, Washington, a union that withstood the tests of time and was blessed with a son, Johnny. Pearl’s life was one of adventure and collaboration, navigating the landscapes of Missouri, California, and Washington as both a clerk and a steadfast homemaker. The couple shared many fond memories until Herchel's passing, a loss that she bore with remarkable strength.
A woman of many interests, Pearl was known for her love of golfing, bowling, and sewing, activities that she pursued with great enthusiasm and skill. Her evenings often found her engrossed in "Wheel of Fortune" or lost in the pages of a good book. Pearl’s baking was renowned, her kitchen a haven of warmth and delightful aromas, reflecting her generous and caring nature.
Through her distinctive personality traits—tidiness, resilience, and a frugality grounded in generosity—Pearl touched the lives of those around her, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy continues through her beloved sister, Cora Mortensen, and the cherished family members she leaves behind, including her nieces and nephews: Linzee Lewis, Barb Bullard, Dennis Mortensen, and Mike Mortensen, as well as her grandchild, Tali Smith, and great-grandchild, Marek Smith.
A celebration of Pearl's life is scheduled to take place on March 29, 2025, at 3:30 pm, at the Capital Vision Christian Church, 1775 Yew Ave NE, Olympia, WA 98506.
In our hearts, Pearl will be remembered with profound love and gratitude, as we commemorate a life thoughtfully lived and tenderly shared. She now rests in peace alongside her beloved husband, son Johnny, and her siblings Betty Joe Bullard, Cecil Leroy Bridges, and Joel Robert Bridges Junior. Pearl is also reunited with her parents, Joel Bridges and Elizabeth Thompson Bridges.
She loved flowers but in lieu of flowers people can donate to https://www.alz.org, https://waeagles.org/, donation to an education fund for her great-grandson, or provide support directly to her family.
