The family of Charles William Maxwell is deeply saddened to announce his passing on March 6, 2025, at the age of 82.

Chuck was born on April 22, 1942, in Caldwell, ID to parents Kirby and Florence (Owens) Maxwell. He attended Elementary Schools throughout the valley and graduated from Middleton High School in 1960.

Chuck met the love of his life, Wanda (Crill), at 16. They were married at 18, and were married for 64 years. They had two sons, Ray and Bill, whom they raised in Homedale, Idaho. Chuck worked as a truck driver most of his married life, running more than a million miles, with Wanda always by his side.

He went on to build a “concrete foundation” for his family, starting Owyhee Sand and Gravel with Wanda and their two boys in 1996. After retiring - who are we kidding, Chuck never truly retired - he enjoyed spending his time at the “shop” telling the boys and his girl (Jo) how things should be done. He could do anything and did it well, yet he always maintained that he was no better than anyone else. Chuck did not know a stranger; he was a friend to everyone. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, creating memories through trips to their land in Idaho City, camping, coffee shop runs, ice cream dates and meals at Nathan’s Café. Chuck touched many hearts and created many smiles, as he always had a joke to share.

Chuck lived his life with honesty and integrity. We will continue his legacy, reminding us of the importance of hard work and honest living. We will forever cherish the life he built and the lasting values he instilled.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Kirby and Florence, his brothers Robert & Curtis, and many other family and friends awaiting his arrival.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Wanda, and his sons Ray (Diana Uranga) Maxwell, Bill (Sherry) Maxwell. Grandchildren; Jolene (Matt) Koplin, Tyler (Ashley) Maxwell, Seth (Bryce) Maxwell, J.J. (Nichole) Maxwell, Coty and James Ford. Great Grandchildren; Khyler, Mason, Grace, Riley, Charleigh, KaeLyn, Westin, Walker and Dean. His sister Sue, brother Roy and many other family and friends.

A celebration of life will take place on April 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at  Txoko Ona in Homedale, ID. All family and friends are welcome to attend.

“A heart of Gold Stopped Beating, Working hands at Rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the BEST.”
