It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Tristen Cole Leyva, who died unexpectedly on February 15, 2025, at the age of 27. Born on March 27, 1997, in Fort Worth, Texas, Tristen was a beloved son, brother, husband, and friend, whose presence touched many lives.
Tristen was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 2015, where he was an accomplished athlete and runner, excelling in cross country and track and field.
After high school, Tristen attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. He later followed his heart by joining the United States Navy, where he served with dedication for nine years until his passing while on active duty. Tristen was passionate about his work in U.S. Navy aviation and loved every moment of his service to his country.
Throughout his military career, Tristen spent seven years stationed in Japan before moving to Guam. He served in various squadrons, including both strike fighter and helicopter squadron, and was attached to the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier for much of his career. His kind heart, adventurous spirit, and unwavering commitment to his work allowed him to build lasting friendships and fully embrace life in different cultures around the world.
Tristen is survived by his loving parents, Patrick and Shawnda Leyva; his sister, Paris Leyva; his wife, Noralin Cabatic; and many extended family members and friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, unwavering work ethic, and deep devotion to his country and loved ones.
Beyond his service, Tristen enjoyed playing video games, spending time with family and friends, and traveling the world. Throughout his life, he had the opportunity to visit many countries and continents, both through his work in the Navy and during his leisure time.
A memorial service will take place at Edwards Memorial Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA, at 11:00 AM. Following the memorial service, a funeral with military honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA, on March 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
