Janet C. Terres

Janet Catherine Terres, (nee Harmon), aged 73 of Mantua, passed away on March 10, 2025.  Janet was born in Philadelphia, PA to Charles and Joyce Harmon, grew up in Mantua, and spent most of her adult life living in Woodbury, NJ.  

Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Terres, of whom she was married for 37 years.  She is survived by her two sons; her eldest son, William Terres, Jr., who married Julie, and brough forth her beloved granddaughter, Violet.   Her youngest son, Matthew Terres with his fiancé Kylie Bitner and their beautiful children Gabe and Stella.  Janet is also survived by her sister Susan Herwig (Karl) and brother Charles Harmon (Pam).  

Janet graduated from Clearview High School, where she remained active with her classmates in reunion committees for many years.  One of her earliest jobs was as a dispatcher with the Mantua Police Department, where she worked with her late husband’s brother and was introduced to the love of her life.  She was a stay-at-home mom when her children were young but then held various positions in banking and retail before settling into a role she loved in the shipping industry.  

We remember Janet for being outgoing and friendly, from early years in her sons’ sports and school activities to later years as part of the Inspira LIFE senior program.  She enjoyed tending her garden, staying in touch with her friends on the phone, and cuddling next to her dog, Wiley.  Janet will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.  

Friends and family are invited to attend Janet’s memorial at McGuinness Funeral Home, Woodbury, NJ on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 beginning from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There will be a memorial service that will commence at 7:00pm.
