Donna "Donna" Marie Peterson

Donna Marie Moon Cruickshank Hereford Peterson died on September 17, 2025 at Canterbury Gardens Memory Care in Longview, Washington.

Donna was born in Vancouver, Washington in 1949 to Donald Charles Moon and Jana Marie Deen Moon Holcomb. She lived in Washougal on her grandparent’s property until the family moved to Camas, Washington in 1953. She graduated from Camas High School in 1967 and went to Portland, Oregon to attend Phagans School of Beauty.  She became a hairdresser and with her lifelong friend, Susan Callaham, they ran their own beauty shop first in Milwaukie and later in Oregon City. Donna married Royal Dale Cruickshank Sr. in 1973, Donald E. Herford in 1974 and Allen James “Pete” Peterson in 1983. After marrying Pete, they moved to Washougal, Washington, where she continued to be a hairdresser at her home salon. Donna moved into town after Pete passed and eventually moved to Seaview, Washington.  Donna enjoyed hairdressing and attending beauty conventions, painting, sewing, and time at the beach clamming with family and friends. She took great joy in her lifelong friendships.

She is survived by her sister, Pat Young, nieces Melynda (Trent) Retallack, Cyndi (Bhaskar) Athmanathan and her honorary grandchildren Druv Athmanathan, Chloe Retallack, Never (Seth) Tollsen, and several aunts, uncles and cousins in Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, two husbands Pete Peterson and Don Hereford, son Rodney Deen Peterson, and brother-in-law, Ted Young.
