Ullrey Memorial Chapel
Macky Hobson Reece
September 1st, 1934 - March 8th, 2025
Our beloved mother, Macky Hobson Reece, 90, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Macky was born on September 1, 1934, in Ralston, OK, but migrated west in 1941, to settle in the Yuba-Sutter area.
Mrs. Reece graduated from Yuba City High School in 1952, that same year she married a dashing young Navy man, Harold "Shorty" Reece.
They were happily married for 50 years, before Shorty passed away in 2002. She treasured her role as a Navy wife and homemaker.
She was always the first to volunteer and took pride in building a network to occupy her time when her husband was at sea.
She was "that mom" who was on field trips, at every school function, volunteering and just raising her precious children.
She was a devoted military wife for 25 years, living briefly in Hawaii and many years in San Diego, CA. Upon her husband's death, she moved to Yuba City, CA, but found it difficult to navigate her life alone.
No kids to raise, no Wives' Club to manage, she wanted to be a part of the hustle and bustle. So, at the ripe age of 70 years young, she took her spunky self to the local Walmart to get a job.
She hadn't worked in 50 years, but loved the camaraderie and discipline of working in the Jewelry department. Her co-workers depended on her to cover their shift because they knew she was reliable.
She kept busy in many ways and was the epitome of a "professional volunteer," having served in Olivehurst's VFW, Yuba City's Moose Lodge, past President of the Del Prado Mobile Home Park, and librarian. She also loved to bowl, crochet, travel, and make new friends.
She is survived by her son, Marshall (Caroll) Reece of Arizona; daughter, Patricia (Don) Mowry of South Dakota; she was blessed to have four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren with another one on the way; and her brothers, Clifford and Howard Hobson.
A viewing will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, Monday, March 17, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM, 817 Almond St Yuba City, CA.
Graveside services will be held at Sierra View Memorial Park, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11 AM, 4900 Olive Ave Olivehurst, CA.
The family thanks you for your support and the honor you have bestowed on Macky. Services will conclude at the cemetery.
