May 24th, 1940 - March 10th, 2025
Marguerite Manco, 84, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, in Ocala, FL.
Marguerite was born on May 24, 1940, in Boston, MA, to James and Margaret Hyland. She was a graduate of Monsignor Ryan High School. A dedicated educator, she earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Boston College and later obtained her master's degree in Reading from Rhode Island College.
Marguerite devoted her entire career to teaching children the gift of reading. She taught in the Town of Randolph, at Green Acres Country Day School, St. Philip’s School, and ultimately retired from Captain Isaac Paine School in Foster, RI. Known affectionately by her colleagues as “Mother Manco,” she was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light to many in the teaching community. Her passion for education and unwavering support for her students and fellow educators left a lasting impact.
On June 27, 1970, Marguerite married the love of her life, Raymond Manco, in Boston, MA. Together, they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, deeply cherished by her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ray; her daughter, Marguerite Valeri, and son-in-law, Jack Valeri; and her adored granddaughters, Jacqueline and Gabriella. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Hyland, and sister-in-law, Marie Groccia. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Margaret Hyland; her siblings, Francis Hyland and Marie Benard; and her sister-in-law, Irene Pinossi.
For the past 19 years, Marguerite embraced life in The Villages, where she found joy and friendship in numerous clubs, including the Red Hats, Bonnybrook Club, Bonnybelles Club, Digital Scrapbooking, and Mahjong. She loved visiting Massachusetts to celebrate milestones with her granddaughters including graduations and many dance recitals.
A private celebration of life will be held this summer.
Marguerite’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care.
