Allan Henry Freeman, 91, of Lexington, Kentucky, and husband of Mary W. Freeman died March 11, 2025. He was born to the late William Henry Freeman and Selina Smith Freeman on October 22, 1933, in Birmingham, England. Following high school, Allan served honorably in the RAF (‘52-’54) then moved to Canada in the late 1950’s. He moved to south Florida in 1961 followed by a final move to Lexington in 1977.  

 

Allan was an international golf pro: first in the British PGA, then in the Canadian PGA, culminating in the PGA of America. He had a 73-year career, including 42-years at Greenbrier Golf & Country Club, in Lexington, starting in 1977.  

 

Besides his loving wife of 65 years, Allan is survived by their three children, Elizabeth Anne “Beth” Freeman of Lexington, David Arthur Freeman of Shelbyville, and Peter James (Susan) Freeman of Venice, FL; eight grandchildren: Amanda, Alexandra, Ashlee, Rachel, Jacob, Hunter, Nicolas, and Ellington; as well as six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John William Freeman.

  

Friends are invited to a celebration of life gathering on Friday, March 21 from 2pm to 4pm at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing, Nicholasville. Casual attire is encouraged. 

 

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Lexington Humane Society (https://lexingtonhumanesociety.org) or Old Friends in Georgetown, KY (https://oldfriendsequine.org/how-to-help/).
