Patricia (Patty) Veator, 72, of Manlius passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10, 2025, with family at her side. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She is predeceased by her parents, Frances (Ward) Kimple and Burl Kimple; Father-in-law, Donald Veator, mother-in-law Janet Veator; sister-in-law Joy Kimple and nephew Grady Swilley.

Patty is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Gary Veator; son, Walker Young, daughter-in-law Elizabeth Young, granddaughters Harper and Adalyn Young; stepdaughter Chelsea Veator, stepson Michael (Amy) Veator; brothers Ward (Christie) Kimple, Jack (Barbara) Kimple, Dan (Debbie) Kimple and Jim (Emily) Kimple; sisters Ann (Ashley) Halliday and Mary (Brian) Stafford; and many nieces and nephews.

Patty dedicated her 40+ year career to serving and taking care of others in the Elder Care industry. She started her career as a nurse and spent the last 32 years of her career working for Loretto, most recently as the Director of Quality Assurance. Patty had a passion for helping provide the elderly with high quality and dignified care. She retired in 2017.

Patty loved to spend time with her granddaughters and took great pride and joy in her family. She loved reading, birdwatching, Syracuse sports, listening to family members play music and had a passion for education. She loved dogs, in particular her loving golden retriever Jasmine who, when they were together, was always at her side. She and her husband Gary spent decades enjoying the beauty and wonder of the mighty majestic St. Lawrence River, where they shared a camp there. They spent countless hours on the water and soaked in thousands of beautiful sunsets with family and friends. She will now watch those sunsets with all of her beloved family and friends who have passed before her, waiting for the rest of us to join her once again.

Patty’s family would like to thank the medical staff at Upstate University Hospital for their care and compassion. In particular, the selfless and dedicated nursing staff who are the backbone and lifeblood of any health system. Their kindness and empathy will forever be deeply appreciated.

Services will be privately held at a later date this Summer.
