Sheila Marie Barnhart

It is with sorrow the Barnhart family announces the death of Sheila Marie Barnhart who was born October 14, 1958 in Pendleton, Oregon died March 5, 2025 in West Linn, Oregon at the age of 66. She attended Raleigh Park Grade, Whitford Middle and Beaverton High Schools. Then on to Portland State University from 1976 – 1982 majoring in history and was a member of Phi Alpha Theta history honor society. Sheila worked nearly 27 years for Oregon Health & Science University in the Dental School rising to Administrative Coordinator. Then moved on to the Blanche Fischer Foundation for nearly nine years as administrator of the grant program and administrative support to the Board of Directors.

In Sheila’s early life she was active from middle school on, in the orchestra playing the viola and being a score keeper for the baseball teams. The love of baseball blossomed while watching her brother play in Little League and Babe Ruth. It was during this time that she began riding horses, developing an interest in dressage. She rode out of the Lake Oswego Hunt Club on a horse named Gus until she bought her own horse named Phil. Riding brought her many skills and joy through these years. Sheila was a voracious reader from a very young age on history, religion, classics and more. Sheila believed in service to others in more need. This also included her animal rescues. She took in animals that no one else would want, giving them a comfortable home for the remainder of their lives. 

Sheila is survived by her brother Greg Barnhart and sister Gail Swan, nieces Kristin Barnhart Heinig, Diane Barnhart Schreiber, Lisa Swan, Melissa Swan, Tracey Swan and nephew James Barnhart. Donations may be made in her honor to any animal rescue.
