Mary Matthews
March 28th, 1940 - March 5th, 2025
Mary Anthony Matthews (“Mary Lou”), 84, of Hoover, AL, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, and has been reunited with her beloved husband, Colonel Richard Matthews, who preceded her in passing.
Mary Lou served as a nurse in the United States Air Force, but her true joy and passion was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put her family first and we are all better for it. She was especially loved as a grandmother by her treasured grandchildren, and we all have fond memories of the time and love she devoted to them. We will all miss the love and dedication that she showed us.
She was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her daughter, Caryn Bosworth, of St. Petersburg, FL; her son, Dale Matthews (Staci) of Forest, Virginia; her sister Carolyn Anthony Powers (Bill) of Richmond, Virgina, and her six grandchildren, Brooke, Lindsay, Robert, Elizabeth, Haylee and Mackenzie.
Her life and contributions to our family will be celebrated in a small private event. She will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with her cherished husband.
