Michael Thaddeus Love, lovingly known as "Mickey," passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at 77.

Born on August 21, 1947, in Charlotte, Michael was deeply connected to the community he cherished. He graduated from Myers Park High School before earning a Liberal Arts degree with a concentration in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During his time in God's country, he was a part of the Tarheel Gymnastics Club, photographed sporting events, and spent a year abroad at the University of Puerto Rico. After completing his studies at UNC, he went to New York City to pursue his love of photography. His education laid the foundation for a successful career in sales, where he was recognized for his talent and dedication. Over more than four decades, Michael built a reputation as an exceptional salesman at Camera World on Pecan Avenue where he was known for his ability to connect with people with warmth and integrity. His fluency in Spanish further enhanced his ability to engage with a diverse clientele.

A devoted sports fan, he always enthusiastically cheered for his beloved Tarheels, especially UNC basketball and the Carolina Panthers.

Faith played a central role in Michael’s life. A lifelong Presbyterian, he delighted in sharing lessons of faith with those around him. Whether attending classes, serving on session, or singing from the church's choir loft, he found great fulfillment in his spiritual community. His deep devotion to his faith was evident in how he lived with kindness, compassion, and an ever-present sense of joy.

Michael will be remembered for his hearty laugh and wide grin which were outward expressions of the joy that radiated from within him. He was known for his wit and wisdom; whether playing Trivial Pursuit or watching Jeopardy!, his encyclopedic knowledge paid dividends on many occasions.  Just for fun, Mike loved to read, go for a walk, and set sail on Lake Norman.  In retirement, he volunteered as a reading buddy with ESL students.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Love; his sons Shawn Love (Regina) and Adam Love (Tracy); his sister Marsha Rose; and his nephew William H. “Bill” Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Love Jr. and Ruth Sides Love; his brother-in-law George W. “Bill” Rose Jr.; and his niece Lee Elizabeth Rose.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Avondale Presbyterian Church, located at 2821 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28209. Rev. Jim Ewing will preside.  Friends and well-wishers will be received in the McLean Fellowship Hall, after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Avondale Presbyterian Church, in support of the upcoming Sacred Space Building Fund.
