Judith May Simmons
January 15th, 1937 - March 6th, 2025
Judith “Judy” Simmons was born in Filer, Idaho to parents Arthur and Emma Marie, arriving AFTER her twin brother Jerry (a source of lifelong contention) and joining older siblings Eldon and Patricia on the family farm. She and Jerry graduated from Filer High School in 1955, and she studied at the College of Idaho for a year before starting her first secretarial job at Idaho Power. There, she met an accountant named Chuck Simmons, forming a friendship and eventually marrying in 1960.
Chuck and Judy adopted two children, and the family of four spent many weekends camping, progressing from a 4-man tent to a 23-foot trailer with all the amenities. Chuck and Judy built a home in the Warm Springs Mesa where they entertained before and after BSU football games, formed a bowling league with the neighbors, and kept the downstairs bar open for friends and family. Though they eventually ended the marriage, Chuck and Judy remained friends for many years.
Judy also worked for Ada County Indigent Services, the Idaho Department of Lands, and the Albertson’s corporate office, where she cultivated many friendships that she maintained until the end of her life. After retirement, she became actively involved in the local singles club, helping to organize dances for members to enjoy. She loved taking her grandkids to get ice cream and singing them lullabies when they were younger. When she was able, she also enjoyed tending to the flower gardens she planted.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; two older siblings; and son Craig. She is survived by her twin brother, Jerry (Jerline); daughter, Ann; former son-in-law, Darin; and grandchildren: Frank (Gabby) of Denver, CO and Emma (Ben) of Washington DC; in addition to her sister-in-law, Linda; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She enjoyed the last months of her life at Brookdale Assisted Living, where she never failed to get made up and coordinate her jewelry. She always had a beautiful smile and, as her twin brother said, she would do anything for anyone.
We are immensely grateful for the caring professionals at Brookdale and Horizon Home Health Hospice care, who provided her comfort, kindness and dignity, in addition to Judy’s protective best friend to the end, KayLee.
Per Judy’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you donate to the Idaho Humane Society – or simply hold your loved ones a little closer and let them know you love them often.

Accent Funeral Home
A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
