Conchita L. Lopez, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, at El Castillo Life Care Community Health Center where she was lovingly cared for in her final days. 

 

Conchita was an early member of the Spanish Market with her tinwork, which was also exhibited at The Smithsonian, Denver Art Museum, he art was featured in Better Homes and Gardens and New Mexico Magazine. She was honored as a Living Treasure in 2007. Conchita served as a volunteer for Villa Therese Clinic, St. Vincent Cancer Treatment Center and Salazar Elementary School. In her 21 years of residence at El Castillo Life Care Community she participated in many activities, working in the theater group, directing benefit sales and helping in any way possible. She was so special in many, many ways in her smile, hugs, encouragement and fun that she showed to everyone around her, living every day to the fullest. She will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched. 

 

She was predeceased by her parents Jacob Lucero and Petrita Lucero de Delgado, her loving husband of 17 years Carlos Lopez, son Juan Quintana, stepdaughter and husband Marcia (Lopez) and Gene Bolton, stepson David Lopez, brother Jake Lucero, Jr., sister Consuelo Lopez, and loving friend and companion of 9 years Ralph Digneo.

 

Conchita is survived by children and stepchildren Elizabeth Henson (Jerry), Pauline Walk, Irene Leong, Alex Quintana (Debbie), Jan McKinnon, Nancy Lopez (Jim). She is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends at El Castillo Life Care Community and throughout Santa Fe. 

 

A memorial funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Cathedral on a date to be announced in the future and a Private Family Burial at National Cemetery.
